Trevally are wild, meaty, oily monsters that fight ferociously when hooked. In Australia, trevally is sometimes called tailor or jacks. Trevally abounds on coral reefs where their speed and agility allow them to escape being eaten by bigger fish like grouper and snapper. These are wild-caught whole fish from New Zealand. Trevally is very rich in calcium and has a good ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are anti-inflammatory, which can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Trevally also contains B vitamins such as B12, which can provide energy to the hard-working nervous system.
These are whole fish sold separately, so be prepared to gut and fillet yourself! a fun and enjoyable activity for many.
